We would like to invite you to Sheriff Marcoux’s June 29th (This Wednesday) Community Discussion on Opiates at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center. 6:30 PM
Unfortunately, the Lamoille Valley has not missed out on Vermont’s opiate crisis. A crisis that knows no boundaries and impacts everyone. Opiate addiction is destroying the lives of those who use and their families … of our loved ones and neighbors. Opiate addiction is impacting the learning environments at our schools as teachers often strive to fill in the gaps for students whose parents are caught in the web of addiction. Opiate addiction impacts the workplace often putting employees and customers at risk. Opiate addiction increases crime as those ensnared seek to feed their addiction – just to ease the daily pain these drugs can cause; this crime makes our communities unsafe and less desirable to families and businesses looking to relocate.
However, we do not need to be bystanders in this crisis. We can take time to learn where those struggling with opiate dependence and addiction can get help. We can share these resources with friends, neighbors, and coworkers who may be ready to get help. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on June 29th at 6:30 in Hyde Park at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center.
