Join us for our third session of action planning to prevent and reduce youth alcohol use and increase the overall health and well-being of our youth. Tuesday, October 24th from 8:30-11:30 AM at Green Mountain Support Services, 93 James Road Morrisville, VT. We’ll also be awarding recipients of Healthy Lamoille Valley’s 4th Annual Prevention Honors! Breakfast provided, catered by Two Sons Bakehouse.
Register in advance by October 22nd. Youth, parents, educators, and community partners are welcome! We look forward to seeing you there!
The first hour is dedicated to Prevention Honors awards and breakfast. Each year Healthy Lamoille Valley honors individuals and groups that have made significant contributions in time and effort to supporting a healthy Lamoille Valley community and working towards the reduction of youth substance misuse. Honorees represent the full engagement of the Healthy Lamoille Valley coalition across individuals, businesses, organizations, and volunteer collaborations.
For the rest of the morning we’ll look into the local conditions and root causes of youth and young adult alcohol use and identify strategies to prevent or delay first use. Local substance use rates are often higher than state averages. Vermont youth substance use is among the highest in the country. Many risk factors that account for these high usage rates. We can work together to reduce the risks and improve the well-being of youth in the region!
This is the third event in a three part series that focuses on strategic planning for a specific substance. Healthy Lamoille Valley held successful strategic planning events on June 15th and September 12th, bringing together coalition members to celebrate partners and work on a strategic planning process for the prevention of underage cannabis, tobacco, nicotine, and vape use in the region.
