Workshop #1: Planning for Successful Grant Writing & Problem Statements

In this first workshop, you will learn how to select grants, create a grant timeline, write proposals, develop pre-written materials, build a grant-writing team, use common frameworks like SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework, demonstrate community engagement, and form effective partnerships with agreements. You will also learn how to write a compelling problem statement which describes the problem you aim to solve using data (substance use prevalence, risk/protective factors, consequence data) gathered from your local community.

Workshop #2: How to Write Successful Grant Narratives in Prevention

This second workshop in the “Writing Successful Grants in Prevention” series focuses on the key parts of a strong grant proposal narrative in the field of prevention. Participants will learn how to:

  • Write a strong project description that outlines the evidence-based and/or evidence-informed activities of the grant and is organized using SMART goals and objectives.
  • Draft a strategy for evaluation that demonstrates how to show the impact of the proposed project. – Propose a project budget that outlines how funds will be used to accomplish the proposed project activities.

Please Note: This series is designed for Vermont Prevention Providers. Vermont grant opportunities will be the focus of this presentation. Vermont providers will be given priority if spaces fill up. Prevention providers from other New England states welcome, if space is available, as content may be applicable.
