Student groups, Allied Health students, and community partners spread health awareness through activities and resources at the GMTCC Health Fair on May 24th.

The middle, high school and tech center students who attended the event were engaged with a variety of table activities covering a range of health and wellness topics. Activities included Stop the Bleed, abdominal thrust simulations, sobriety test with impairment goggles, and resources for sexual health, mental health, substance recovery and much more!

Lamoille North Youth Coalition students ran a table and invited participants to spin a wheel and write an activity based on the Live Your Why category it landed on. The goal was to get students to think about the benefits of activities they engage in and get ideas from the activities and benefits other students wrote down. The youth coalition also displayed their prevention posters and highlighted pictures of the group activities.

Youth from the Lamoille North Equity Vision Team led an activity where students guessed the percentage of the agree/strongly agree responses on their school’s Climate Survey, such as “do you think adults respond quickly to discipline issues.” Students were also asked to write on a sticky note something they thought could change to make their school experience better.

Allied Health students led an activity where participants wrote a positive, supportive message on a banner to be displayed at their school for mental health month. They also asked students to write a message of gratitude.

Community partners from Vermont Department of Health, North Central Vermont Recovery Center, Lamoille County Mental Health, Clarina Howard Nichols Center, Lamoille Health Partners also tabled with activities and resources.
