On May 11th we will be partnering with the Lamoille North Supervisory District on a community event on preventing youth cannabis use. This interactive in-person event will look at where our youth are being exposed to cannabis, alcohol, and other drugs, and how parents and community members can take steps to address and prevent youth use. Middle and high school students are encouraged to attend with their parents or caregivers. We invite all parents and students to participate. Doors open at 6:00 PM for a light dinner. The event is from 6:30-7:30 PM. Please pre-register so we can plan setup and dinner.

You may be thinking, “I do not have a student in the Lamoille North District, this event isn’t for me.” In fact, this event is open to the entire Lamoille Valley community. Our youth cross town lines for the Tech Center, friendships, sports, services, shopping, and more. While this is a district-level conversation, you probably already interact with Lamoille North students in the community. We invite you to attend! Our youth need you to attend. According to the new data brief from the Vermont Department of Health, “Vermont rates of cannabis use in the past month among people aged 12+ were highest in the country—at nearly twice the national rate.” Read the full brief here.
